I am a Research Scientist at Google NYC. Previously, I was a postdoc at UC Berkeley working with Prof. Yi Ma. I received my PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Johns Hopkins University in 2018, under the supervision of Prof. Rene Vidal. Prior to Hopkins, I got my B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and a double degree in Applied Mathematics in 2009, and my M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2012, all at Peking University. My research areas broadly include machine learning, computer vision, optimization and signal processing. I am interested in the development of mathematical principles and practical numerical algorithms for analyzing and interpreting modern data, with the goal of addressing real world challenges.
